The beauty of the iPod is you can take your favorite tunes with you wherever you go. But what if you want to catch some particular radio show or hear some witty morning banter from the drivetime hosts? Now you can, with the iPod Radio Remote – an awesome accessory that is well worth the $49 pricetag. This small addition runs off the iPods battery and even adds a cute radio-looking visual to your iPod’s screen. It gets all the FM stations from 87.5 to 107.9MHz. It’s maybe a little on the pricey side but let’s be honest: the bottom line is you really need one of these to put all your favorite radio stations at the tip of your fingers.

For you workout fiends, you’ve gotta check out the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. It’s a combination of software you run on your iPod, a wireless sensor you put in your shoes and a website where you upload your runs so you can compare your historical best times. Naturally Nike wants you to buy their shoes, and that’ll make it easier – their Nike+ shoes are built for just this purpose – but I’m told with a little Yankee ingenuity you can make this work flawlessly with any running shoes. The iPod Sport Kit runs $29 at Apple. You can buy a second Nike+ iPod Sensor for another pair of shoes for $19. Check it out!

If you have a few extra dollars to kick around – okay, lotsa dollars to kick around – and you like cool techie toys, you might take a look at the Myvu Personal Media Viewer, which is iPod-meets-Star-Trek. This cool gizmo provides a convenient way to watch videos on the go. With a built-in viewer and stereo earbuds plus a lightweight rechargeable battery, the Myvu gives you four hours of play time. It’s available now for under $200. I’d like to use it on my next trip to Omaha so I don’t have to acknowledge that rather large man spilling out of the seat next to me.
